SCT Build Update – May 30, 2005
Posted by Chris in Construction on May 30, 2005
Wow another crazy week, it was the end of our year so I did not have a chance to work on the car until the weekend but tied to take advantage of the rainy weather in Dallas and spent time on Saturday and Monday at the shop.
Last week Jimmy finished the ” trunk construction ” and it looks great. We have greatly expanded the space availablenot sure if I can fit a set of clubs, it will be close.
Have some great new pictures of the trunk and EFI (for Richard) in the gallery check them out ” in the SCT Updates Section”
I spent the weekend finishing the stereo install and getting all the wires pulledsince there are no connections between the trunk and the cabin I ran conduit to ensure a sealed connection.
This is really the final stretch (yea, yea I have said it before but this is really it)
Things to be completed before coming home:
Powder coat trim rings for shifter, parking break, stereo and glove box
 Install trim piece
 Door trim piece install
Spacers for passenger side seat (currently to straight up)
 Re-install seats
 Re-install doors
 Front wheel well aluminum
 Tune engine
 Change oil (after tune)
Once it gets home I will finish out the stereo since I have the tools for that at my shop.
If all goes to plan I should have it home in the garage by Friday.

SCT Build Update – April 30, 2005
Posted by Chris in Construction on April 30, 2005
All,
The DFW JBL Cobra is coming along. We fired the motor today for the first time, a little tuning is required but should not have any problems getting it ready for the AER show next weekend (no pressure on Jimmy)
Have some great pictures posited in the gallery section… including a video of its first start.
Specialty Cars of Texas Build Update Pictures
We are working on the small (but long) items for completion. Looking to have 90% done for this weekend… we have to show everyone why they want a JBL and not an ERA
Thanks
Chris

Larry is hauling now on the car… I can barely keep up posting the pictures of the build… I know what a problem to have.
To say I am getting excited is a WAY understatement… This car is going to be SO Fun….
Thankfully Andrew is a long way from wanting to drive it
Check out the photo album for the latest pictures
As always stay tuned for more updates (I’ll try to keep up with Larry)

12/1/2004 Update – Priming Complete
Posted by Chris in Construction on December 2, 2004
Larry has finished priming the body and it is getting closer to paint
From Larry
“The body in gray is the epoxy spray able filler. We block sanded it with 180 grit to fill any imperfections in the body. The reddish looking body is 3 coats of high build primer surfacer. We will block sand it today and hopefully paint this weekend. The chassis should be finished also this weekend. Then the process of putting it all together”
Painting it off the chassis is making it much easier to ensure a great paint application.
Getting closer

11/19/04 Update -Under Body Work
Posted by Chris in Construction on November 19, 2004
Larry does not want to leave anything unturned with this project and after they finished last week doing the fitting, it was decided to flip the shell and clean up all the edges and prep the underside of the fiberglass.
Based upon Larry estimations we are about 4 weeks out from completion. The body is going into the paint booth on Monday. I think they are still waiting on a few straggler parts hopefully they arrive in time to maintain the timeline.
Our goal is to have it running for the January Dallas TCC meeting, since this will be the one-year anniversary of our first attended meeting in Dallas.
